Special Guests
RobCon 2023 is excited to announce the addition of world-renowned artist Charles Vess to our list of special guests. Charles is primarily a fantasy and comics artist who has specialized in the illustration of myths and fairy tales. His career includes covers and illustrations for Spider-Man, Stephen Spielberg's Hook, and Swamp Thing. His collaborations with author Neil Gaiman have produced works such as the Books of Magic and Sandman, as well as the award-winning novel Stardust. His Green Man Press has published a series of comics under the name The Book of Ballads and Songs with contributions from Gaiman and others such as Jeff Smith, Emma Bull and Charles de Lint. He's also a great guy and a long time friend and we're very excited to welcome him, once again, to RobCon 2023!
Indie powerhouse, Terry Moore, began his career in comics with the critically acclaimed epic series, Strangers in Paradise, the compelling love story between three unlikely friends who find themselves bound together by their pasts. The long running series garnered many awards including the coveted Eisner Award for Best Serialized Story and the National Cartoonists Society Comic Book Division Reuben Award. Strangers in Paradise has been translated into nineteen languages. The recipient of numerous industry awards worldwide Moore continues his legacy of strong female characters in extraordinary stories such as Echo, Rachel Rising, Serial, and Motor Girl. In addition to publishing work under his own label, Abstract Studio, Moore has worked for Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, and Boom! to name a few! We are so excited to have him join us this year at Robcon!
Budd Root is an artist with a long and prestigious career, carving his own path through the comics industry. After leaving the Marines, Root got his first paid gig drawing for the James Gang books. But he broke though into the comicsphere with the self-published Cavewoman, spawning many issues, specials and one-shots. He's a convention favorite, and we're thrilled to welcome him back to RobCon 2023!
Gregbo Watson is a digital artist and illustrator with a twisted imagination and dark sense of humor. Both of which are mirrored in his art and illustration style. His work is heavily influenced by the many ghostly legends and southern folktales he was raised on during his childhood. Spooky stories filled with offbeat characters, wicked witches, ghosts and goblins fascinated his imagination. He has worked on projects for Upper Deck, Zenescope, & Marvel. He also does commissions and works on freelance projects from his studio in Easley, SC.

John Hairston Jr. is an American artist and a North Carolina native. He created art before he could read or write. Under the guidance of his high school mentors and college professors, he learned to tap into these components to create a style of artwork that seamlessly blends political satire, social commentary and obscure pop-culture references. After graduation, he began his career as a professional artist illustrating storyboards for a string of independent films and several television ads. He has done commissioned pieces for numerous art collectors and various non-profit organizations. His work is currently on display in various art galleries all over the US and abroad, and we are thrilled to have him back at RobCon 2023!
